A ring that fits slides over the knuckle with a little resistance and does not spin on the finger. Here are three ways to find yours.
1. Measure a ring you own
Take a ring that fits the finger you have in mind and measure its inside diameter in millimetres, edge to edge.
- About 16.5 mm is a US 6.
- About 17.3 mm is a US 7.
- About 18.1 mm is a US 8.
2. Measure your finger
Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps and measure the length in millimetres. Divide by 3.14 for the diameter, then use the sizes above.
3. Ask a jeweller
Any jeweller can measure your finger with a ring sizer in a minute.
Between two sizes?
Fingers are a little larger in warm weather and at the end of the day. When in doubt, choose the larger size, especially for a wide band.
